JIU JITSU [flexible art] is the ancient system of unarmed combat used by the samurai warriors of feudal Japan. The techniques involve throwing, locking and striking and can be applied against attacks from both armed and unarmed assailants. This results in the martial art of Jiu Jitsu being an extremely effective form of self-defence.

Classes are taught in a traditional friendly manner placing a strong emphasis on the use of opponents' body weights and movements, this allows Jitsu to be practiced by anyone, of any strength, weight or gender. In Jiu Jitsu we teach first-rate self-defence, allowing you to protect yourself without unnecessarily injuring your opponent.

Since the training is gradual, little initial physical fitness is required. The regular sessions improve general endurance, strength, flexibility, co-ordination, balance and reaction times, as well as raise self-confidence.

The club has a good social life with regular trips to the pub after training and other events like regular visits by the head of style.

Come by on any session and give it a go, the first session is free.
